Mount Elden in the Snow

Flagstaff experiences a touch of all four seasons without any of the extremes. There is a beautiful spring season with warm weather and tons of wildflowers; the summers are the perfect temperatures especially towards August when the monsoons pull in and cool everything down; fall is brilliant with the full spectrum of colors dotting the trees across the mountainside; and a snowy season that presents just enough snow to get the feel of winter but not so much that you feel bogged down by it.  The perfect balance of all four seasons.

The above picture is of Mount Elden from the front yard of this house during the winter time.  It shows that it does snow in Flagstaff, but not so much that you feel buried. Each season there is about a week with real snow, then almost right away the bright Arizona sun comes out and it melts away. So, if you like snow and a little cold, Flagstaff gives you just enough to experience it. You can go sledding, skiing at Arizona Snowbowl, and make yourself a snowman.  But, you don't have to worry about having to endlessly shovel snow or be snowed in so much that you can't get around town. Experience winter in a nice way.
